2008: Our First Year

I can't believe how fast 2008 went by! It has been James and my first year being married, and it has been such a fun year! I've decided just for fun, to write down a list of events and things that have happened in our first year of marriage! So here is just a list of all the fun memories and things we have done in 2008.

January: James and I started Winter Semester classes (my last semester, yay!) and we started our health kick (we went to the gym 5 days a week for about 5 months!...we need to start that again). Back to work for me!

February: Lots of homework, working out at the gym, hanging out with our friends, and took a road trip home to Las Vegas.

March: Our only snowboarding trip...to Brighton Ski Resort (James and I were so busy with school, we didn't have time... we will be snowboarding more this season) and I worked the annual Provo Easter Egg Hunt.
April: I went to San Diego for my Grandpa Durkin's Birthday
May: Went to Hawaii to visit James's Grandpa, Josephine received her MBA, and had fun with James's family in Park City.

June: I started working as a Coordinator with 4-H Afterschool, I also started my internship as an event planner for the City of Provo, I turned 22, and Spencer and Carissa got married.
July: Grandma and Grandpa Weight came home from their mission to Finland, had a fabulous family reunion, went to Taylorsville Day, James and I worked lots of promotions, and I worked the Pioneer Day Extravaganza.
August: I graduated college (yay!), and we went camping with Craig and Josephine.

September: James turned 28, and worked the KC Masterpiece promotion with Alicia and the Trident
promotion with all of our friends.

October: Took a Las Vegas Trip with Carissa and Spencer, worked the Halloween Carnival and ran the Batman Spook Alley, and had a weekend with my sisters.

November: I got a new job, we finally got health insurance, we went to New Mexico for Thanksgiving, and celebrated our 1 year anniversary!

Gingerbread Houses

Yay for gingerbread houses! James and I had lots of fun hanging out with our good friends Danny and Lindsey. It was a lot of fun and we definitely got into it. James and I put a hot tub on our balcony with a patio table and chairs! And we even used sour patch kids as our people. Our house isn't totally done because we ran out of frosting while Danny and Lindsey went to town!

I have to say, their house is impressive. They made a garage with a sled! A stone walkway and there is a tree in the backyard. I LOVE IT.

Christmas List

Here is a list of things that I want for Christmas!

Rainbow Premier Leather Double-Layer Arch Sandals
A new Chi Straightener
True Religion Perfume
Cowgirl Boots...Possibly from Liberty Boot Co.

The Samsung Eternity

Twilight

So, I saw the Twilight movie and absolutely loved it ;) James hated it and actually said the movie made him "mad." Haha, well thats what I get for making him see the movie with me. I felt like there were a few parts of the movie that dragged on and were cheesy... but hey, I am a sucker for cheesy. I though the movie was dang cute... I want to see it again. I loved it. So pretty much, don't have your husbands see the movie ;)

Batman Spook Alley

I just finished my second annual Halloween Carnival for Provo City and it turned out AWESOME! It definitely was the best event we have done yet. I don't know if many of you know, but I have been working on this event for two months now. My main responsibility was designing the Spook Alley for the Carnival. I chose to do a "Batman" theme for the Spook Alley and incorporated all of the Batman Villains throughout the whole thing. So I am writing this post because I want to walk everyone through so you can "imagine" what it was like!

(I have included pictures of the Spook Alley so you can sort of get an idea of what it looks like, but the pictures don't do it justice. It is just hard getting good pictures with the black lights, strobe lights, and fog, plus you can't hear the awesome music and see the villains...)

As you enter the Spook Alley, it starts out in the Bat Cave with Batman, where he tells everyone that all of the Villains have escaped and are running around Gotham City causing havoc. He then shows the group of people out of his cave and warns them of the dangers and tells them to be careful!

Then as the go through the rest of the bat cave they approach a Mine Shaft that they have to crawl through to get out of the Bat Cave. Along the way they are met by a Skeleton and other creatures that live in the Cave and Mine Shaft. Once they are out of the Mine Shaft they are in the Forrest outside of Bruce Wayne's Mansion. They then have to go through the Forrest.

They then approach the Insane Asylum where the Scarecrow and his insane patients are waiting for them. They then exit the Asylum to an Alley Way were Cat Woman is. As they turn the corner they get closer to the heart of Gotham City. They are then approached by Two Face. Then they continue on as they enter Gotham City and are met by Joker himself!

At the Carnival, one of our other main attractions was our Quarter Mile Maze. It filled the entire ground floor and was 8 feet tall, it was really impressive! We spent a whole week setting it up, decorating it and putting it all together. Here is a picture of it so you can get an idea of how big it was!

We also had a Magician Show, Halloween Carnival Games, Haunted Movie Theatre... It was a crazy night. I just can't believe how much planning and preparation it took and now it is all over!

Frightmares

This weekend James and I went to Frightmares! It was so much fun. One of my favorite things is Theme Parks...! We spent the whole day hitting up all of the rides and eating yummy food with James's brother Craig and his fiance Josephine. Later that evening we met up with my cousin Spencer and his wife Carissa, her sister Angela and boyfriend Michael. I love hanging out with these guys. We always have so much fun. We also went to all of the Frightmare attractions. The lines were pretty ridiculous for the haunted houses! We went to every haunted house, and I would have to say the "Clown spook alley" was by far the best.

Here are some picture of the eventful day:

Isn't Craig such a cute fairy?

James got in trouble for taking pictures throughout the haunted houses! haha...

Back Home to Vegas

During Fall Break I was so happy because James and I were able to go home for the weekend. It was so awesome! I am use to being able to go home like every other month so it feels like it has been FOREVER since I have been to Vegas!! I was so happy too cause my cousin Spencer and his cute wife Carissa were able to come with us!! It was so much fun having them there they whole time and it made the car trip more barable (I hate driving in the car for long periods of time...)

I think James usually gets bored when I visit home because all I want to do is hang out at the house and play with my mom and siblings...So this visit I made sure that we had a bunch of things to do every day, and Spencer and Carissa were my motivation. We actually went down to the Strip everyday which is impressive for me since I rarely ever go down there unless it has to do with shopping...

The first thing that we did when we got into Vegas was eat at In-N-Out of course! Then we hit up all of the factories like Coca-Cola and M&M... Played at Gameworks, went to my favorite store in the whole wide world: Tillys, did a little shopping at the Las Vegas Outlet Malls, Checked out the Wax Museum, played a lot on the Rip Stick, rode a rollercoaster, ate out at the Buffet in Mandalay Bay, ate yummy gelato at Bellagio, and my mom made us amazing dinners every night we were there! I also was the tour guide the whole weekend as we hit up a bunch of Casinos...We went to: Mandalay Bay, Rio, Ceasars Palace, Circus Circus, Planet Hollywood, The Venetian, The Palms, the New York New York and the Bellagio.

Here are some pictures of the trip! EnJoY!

Rock Star Party

I just got home from such a fun party! Andrea threw a rockstar party for her birthday and it was such a blast! There were so many people there and everyone was just having so much fun. It was rockstar themed so everyone dressed up as rockstars and danced the night away ;) We all danced, played rockband, sat around a fire pit and ate yummy food. The best thing about it was my two sisters came down to spend the weekend with me for Conference and they were able to come to the party. We all got ready before hand and got all dressed up! I love my sisters so much, they are so much fun and I love getting to hang out with them! Alicia also was able to go to the party with us (I love her so much!). Happy birthday Andrea, I love you girl, and you rock!!

Here are some pictures of the fun night!

Here are some modeling pictures of James and me!...Isn't he so cute?!

I love my Andrea so much!

Well, I think I had my share for promotions this past summer! James and I worked a Trident Promotion a month ago and we had the best staff! It was so much fun because all of our friends worked the event! It was awesome! It was James, Me, Andrea, Jake, Craig, Tasha, and Ryan! and I thought I had tons of gum after the Stride promotion!... haha, well if anyone wants some gome just give me a call ;)

Here is are wonderful Penske truck! It was literally packed full of gum ceiling to floor!...and we handed out all of them!! We got kicked out of the mall, so we are just chillin ;)

Haha, so this was at the Utah game! This was the craziest crowd!! We got rid of so much gum this night! IT WAS CRAZY!!

Here are some awesome team pictures! EnJoY!
