Tropical Favorites for the Summer

I have been loving the tropical trend for this summer and I can't get enough of the fun prints, bright colors, and yummy scents. Anything that reminds me of Maui or makes me feel like I am living near the ocean - count me in! 

James and I have been opening up our windows and doors during the day and it has been such an enjoyable experience. From our house you can hear the waves crashing and the birds chirping outside and you can even feel an occasional cool lake breeze. I just close my eyes and pretend I am somewhere exotic. 

I think that is my favorite thing about our home - that it feels like I am staying at a retreat. My home really is my getaway and I think that's how it should be.

Since the tropics have been on my mind, I thought it would be fun to share list of my tropical favorites for this summer (or year-round). Enjoy.

Pineapple Hat from Forever 21 //

I got this hat from Forever 21 and I am loving it so much! I think every girl should have a pink hat and pineapples are all the rage right now. :)

Nourishing Coconut Milk Shampoo/Conditioner by OGX //

This shampoo smells like you are washing your hair on a tropical island. I love the sulfate-free formula. It gently cleanses and hydrates for silky smooth hair.

Hawaiian Pineapple Facial Cleanser by Alba //

Okay, this is one of my favorite face washes right now. The pineapple scent is to die for and I love the way it makes my skin feel - nice and clean and doesn't dry me out. 

Coconut Body Lotion from Love & Beauty //

I got this lotion from Forever 21 and it is the perfect tropical lotion - it smells just like pina colada! I have repurchased it a couple of times because I use it so much.

Square Magazine Photo Shoot

I was organizing our office and I came across the Rock Issue of Square Magazine. I had forgotten that I had saved this magazine... back in 2007 James was a model for one of their articles. I love the pictures from the article! (even if there is another girl in the pictures) I think James did such a good job, he is such a good model :) I think James looks awesome and I don't have enough fun pictures of him. Man, he is one sexy stud!

Wedding Dress

I don't know why I am looking at wedding dresses... since I have already had my wedding (two years ago) but I am obsessed with this wedding dress. I love the antique look of the dress, it reminds me of my wedding ring.

My New Desk!

I got home from work today, and look what James got me!

I am so happy! I have always wanted a desk with a lightbox to do all my projects on!!! Now I am really going to have to be crafty :) James is so good at surprising me. Thanks babe, I love the desk!

Major Tom

You know how you get a song stuck in your head... I think I have had Peter Schilling's song Major Tom stuck in my head for about 5 years now. I swear I will just start singing it randomly all the time. I don't know why, but I just do. I like the Shiny Toy Guns cover (it is on the Lincoln commercial). Have a listen.

Dakota Fanning

Okay, I can't get over how beautiful Dakota Fanning looks in this picture! She is all grown up!

I just found out that she will be one of the vampires in the movie New Moon! She is playing Jane, who is a high ranking guard in the Italian "royal family" named the Volturi.

A little about her character: Jane possesses a formidable gift that frightens even the strongest of vampires; she can create the illusion of a pain second only to the fire of vampire venom coursing through one's veins - excruciating pain that leaves anyone bearing it collapsed and writhing on the floor. There is but one exception to her wrath, Isabella Swan. The immunity to Jane's special power infuriates her greatly, to the point that Bella may have developed a new and very dangerous enemy.

Summer Movies

James and I love movies. This past month there been a lot of good movies that have come out! We thought Wolverine was way good and Star Trek was amazing. Angels and Demons was pretty good but I liked DaVince Code better. I love the summer because there are always so many good movies that come out! Here are some movies that James and I can't wait for!

I just saw Twilight again and loved it even more... I can't help it. I think I am going to have to reread the books...!

So, I saw the Twilight movie and absolutely loved it ;) James hated it and actually said the movie made him "mad." Haha, well thats what I get for making him see the movie with me. I felt like there were a few parts of the movie that dragged on and were cheesy... but hey, I am a sucker for cheesy. I though the movie was dang cute... I want to see it again. I loved it. So pretty much, don't have your husbands see the movie ;)

Jim Sturgess

 

Ok, so I cannot get enough of Across the Universe Soundtrack. The Beatles are amazing, but even more I love the sound of Jim Sturgess's voice! I just rewatched the movie last week and I forgot how much I love the music in it! All of my favorite parts in the movie are sung by Jim sturgess. My most favorite part in the movie is the Bowling Alley where he sings "I have just seen a face". It is the cutest part of the movie. I also love "Revolution" and "All My Loving"!! I put all of the best songs onto my music playlist. -so check them out! If you have not seen this movie you should! And you should get the soundtrack!
